More about Sega's next generation of PSO2 Meseta was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, and New Genesis is shaping up for a Substantial upgrade from the present game. There are still lots of details to be revealed as time goes one, but some major things like combat and the planet are much clearer. Hiro Arai out of Sega was live for almost an hour to show footage off of gameplay and also talk about what new things are on the way. Not much was said about the current game and the update coming alongside NG's launch aside from the graphic upgrade, which will be looking fantastic.

Maps are no longer split into areas with loading screens. NG is going to have an entirely open world in the home base to the field. The TGS footage showed off a beautiful new world that is a substantial update from the current game. Blades of grass blow in the end, lush forests lie on the opposite side of valleys and frosty mountains could be seen in the distance. Arai mentions that distinct areas can be reached seamlessly by simply exposing the entire world.

It seems like that is the planet Naberious from the current match, with forests being next to tundra and other regions. Areas are still technically divided up, but there is no loading between them. While it has not been straight mentioned, an open world like this implies there may not be single party areas . Most revealed in the footage were multi-party areas where there were other players. The cap for multi-party areas continues to be reduced to eight from twelve at the present PSO2, but that you see will differ from area to area.

Weather is creating a better comeback since it affects dynamically and may affect the battlefield, even though the size of the impact was not spoken of. Time will also change, and footage showed some nice touches like fireflies in the woods at night. There is no word on fast travel, vehicles or mounts yet, but Sega has implemented some new methods for players to move quickly across this large new world. Players will be able to run faster after a dodge both in and out of battle. A blue streak follows underfoot, so you will know you're doing it right when you watch it.

The other important addition to movement shown off at the first NG trailer is the glide. It goes as far as a few of those screenshots have made it look. Players can get to high ground and jump off to slide and get pretty damn far across the map. Like in Breath of the Wild, you'll have the ability to make you are way up a mountain to glide away from -- but without anything inhibiting you like stamina. It'll also make for some dramatic entrances in to battle. Sega mentioned that gathering and crafting would be getting an overhaul, and while we did not have a look at crafting, we did see just how much nicer it is to can you buy meseta on pso2 snag items in the field.
